Lesson 1, Activity 1 in Modules 5.

The issue that matters to me is a a lot of students specially junior high students having difficulties in choosing their strand before entering SHS, thus I want to share my knowledge as a Humss student.

Humss stands for Humanities and Social Sciences. This strand focuses on the study of human behavior and societal changes and analysis of arts, culture and literature and politics. It involves political science, anthropology, linguistics, psychology and communication.
I chose HUMSS because this strand will help me enhance not only my ability to talk in front of many people but also to gain self confidence and to enhance my ability to connect and communicate with the audience.

One of the advantages of taking HUMSS strand is that this strand can build and boost your self confidence. This strand revolves around improving the students reading, writing and speaking skill because if haven't notice yet, people who chose this strand aspiring to become members of the society who will be dealing with a lot of people but this strand are told to be the worst strand. They think that everything that the students under this strand is the easiest other people that you are a HUMSS student, you don't know how to deal with numbers which is not true, students under this strand can understand numbers. It just so happen that it's not the main priority.

The three possible problems that I may encounter in deciding on the track and strand when planning to take in SHS are influence, financial and quality of education. Peer influence in choosing SHS track and strand is a result of peer pressure. Many students wanted to enroll in private school in Senior High School because they have voucher. However the voucher amount is not enough to cover all expenses and they ended as a drop. Lastly choose the right school that can offer quality education in Senior High School.

I could use my Good communication skill. social awareness and also being observant and critical thinker to inspire and to help the incoming SHS students to chose what strand they want.

To make a difference by I will give an advice to the incoming SHS students to:
•Know the strand more thorough research
•Ask yourself what your goal in life is
•Think about the job opportunities in that field
•Consider your passion in life.

You have to be confident. The key to survive this strand is to be confident. HUMSS students are expected to be good communicators and public speakers and so this strands has a lot of presentation activities to prepare students for their future jobs. You have to be good at everything.
